There's a lot of singer/ songwriters out there. What sets you apart?
Good skin and excellent personal hygiene. Seriously, I think it's the fact that Im playing music you don't hear very often anymore: chilled, sing-along summer rock like they used to make in the good ol' days, a magical simpler time...the 80s!
What was the process of making [latest album] If She Knew?
A long four years on and off in the studio, trying to get it right. We did for the most part, but creatively it's hard to know when to walk away, it's natural, I think to always want to do better and to grow artistically. The good news is was it was funded independantly, I could take my time and make those tricky decisions myself but the bad news is I paid for it all out of my own pocket! (laughs)
What drives you to create music?
Just an overwhelming urge to express myself the only way i know how and the selfish need to emulate my heroes and live out my own little psuedo rock 'n' roll fantasies. It's an obsession really.
What kind of non-musical influences do you have?
I respect actors in the same way I do musicians, I really respect the craft of it all and God knows I could never do it. Christian Bale is amazing! That guy is the next Pacino! But I still have a soft spot for Tom Cruise's big cheesy grin! [That's Cruise's insanity working overtime- Ed]
You've got some shows coming up later in the month; what can people expect from them?
Expect a real chilled- out acoustic full band interpretation of the album, going back to the roots of the songs and finding the real fragile emotion behind them.
What's for dinner?
Chiili Con Carne! And I'm cooking...
