Evelyn Duprai
MusicBIOGRAPHY
It’s not often that you come across a singer who can flow in and out of musical genres with effortless ease, but that’s exactly what makes Evelyn Duprai so unique. Evelyn’s ability to sing jazz, funk, soul, pop, rock and blues has undoubtedly made her one of the most sought after female vocalists in this Australia.
With just 5 short years in the music industry, Evelyn Duprai's résumé reads like that of a seasoned veteran, having worked with the best of the best in Australian music. In the world of Jazz, Evelyn regularly tours as a soloist with James Morrison; in the world of rock, she's toured with ARIA award winning recording artists - Silverchair, and in the world of electronic dance, she's toured with yet another ARIA award winning recording artist – Paul Mac.
Evelyn has also worked with renowned Australian Film Industry Composers John Gray and Christopher O’Young having lent her voice to various Australian movies, documentaries and commercials both here and abroad.
In 2008, Evelyn was selected from amongst 20 of the finest singers in the country to be the official vocalist for the 2008 NSW Local Business Awards, touring the state and performing as part of the “Grammy Award” style presentations. In the same year, Evelyn also accepted a contract with the TEN Network’s Australian Idol in 2008 as one of the official backing vocalists for the show under the direction of Erana Clark and John Foreman – a position sought after by many a working singer.
2010 has been an exciting year thus far for Evelyn Duprai starting off in February and March touring with the James Morrison Orchestra alongside industry veterans Doug Parkinson and Monica Trapaga at some of the nations most prestigious theatres including Melbourne’s Regent Theatre and Sydney’s very own state theatre.
It was in this tour that audiences got to witness the “soul sister” side of Evelyn Duprai, reinforcing the once again that she is just as gifted in soul and blues as she is in jazz with her show stopping Aretha Franklin tribute!
In March this year Evelyn was invited by the organisers of Melbourne’s renowned Thai Food Festival to participate in the Sunshine Friends Concert for the Marysville fire victims with her soul vocal group Tiara.
When Larry Braggs – lead singer of world renowned funk band Tower of Power was looking for a vocalist to duet with him live on a song from off of his current album, Evelyn Duprai got the call. Evelyn joined Larry Braggs and David Garibaldi from Tower of Power in their first ever-Australian tour in April and May of this year.
August this year saw Evelyn perform at the State Theatre once again but this time as part of the Richard Clapton band as he performed all the hits that have made him a household name.
In September, audiences will witness Evelyn Duprai in the role of a compere as she hosts 2 nights at the nationally acclaimed “Whole Lotta Love 8th Led Zeppelin Celebration at the Sutherland
Entertainment Centre and The Laycock Theatre.
With such a string of credits in so short a time, is it any wonder that Evelyn Duprai is so in demand! Evelyn’s phenomenal vocal versatility continues to enforce the fact that she truly does have something quite special. With performances that are always captivating, full of passion, intensity, vibe, and class, there’s no doubt that this is one lady you’ll be hearing from for quite some time to come!
